Frequently Asked Questions

General questions

Where is the elevation data coming from?

The data is coming from LiDAR digital elevation models.
It represents an approximation of the actual elevation value and should not be taken as an exact value.

How exact is the data?

The data represents an approximation and should not be taken as an exact number.

Can I see the elevation on map?

Elevation lines are visible at a certain zoom level. If you don't see them then try to zoom in or out. Example of visible elevations: Kilomeni, Tanzania

If I stay on top of a building, will the elevation be accurate?

Please note that this website uses your geographical position (lat/lng) to look up the altitude in an external database. So, for example, if you're in a tall building that height will not be accounted for.

Can I print the information?

Yes, just click on the print button in the upper-right side (top of map), or in the menu, or at the bottom of directions indications.

Directions/route questions

How do I activate / deactivate the traffic related information?

Traffic related information can be toggled using the traffic button that is positioned at the upper-right side of the interface.

What do green/yellow/red bolded road zones represent?

The bolded roads present the current traffic situation.
The green roads have over the average traffic and the red ones represent roadblock and/or heavy traffic zones.

When searching for a route, is the current traffic taken into account?

Yes. If there is a heavy traffic zone or roadblocks then the route will try to avoid those roads (if it leads to a lower travel time).
The default route is optimized for a lower travel time and it takes into account the traffic at the time of search.
